Step
into the Queen’s studio to see
royal workmanship in progress. The Queen has collected vintage
furniture for years knowing that someday she would bring it to life
with her vision and palette. When she first spies a piece she
immediately “sees” it as it “should” be. She thus doesn’t
really design the piece, but rather the piece “shows” her it’s
potential. For example, the Queen found some abandoned desk drawers
and could immediately see that they were destined to be highly
decorative, funky mirrors for bathrooms, hallways, and bedrooms.
The
Queen takes pride in transforming her “findings” into
“treasures” that become unique home accent pieces for years to
come. She cleans, sands, primes, paints and top-coats each piece of
furniture. Then working in her signature palette of pinks,
lavenders, and greens, the Queen embellishes each piece of wood
furniture with colorful heart themed graphics.
Many
hours of hand work are required to accomplish the reincarnation
process. Even a small piece of furniture may take 30 to 40 hours
from start to finish.
Sewing
is another regal mastery of the Queen. She is often torn between her
love for painting furniture and her obsession for sewing and
embellishing her fabric creations with thousands of hand-sewn beads.
Whether it’s ornaments of hand-beaded hearts, fur-trimmed Kringle
Kreatures, softly felted Angelica sisters or other fanciful
“whimsies,” the Queen's court of delights are treasures to
behold.
